Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the Attendance Calculator?
Enter Classes Attended and Total Classes Held, then set your Required Attendance % (use the 60/75/80/90% preset buttons or type a custom value). Optionally enter Remaining Classes for the term, then click "Calculate Attendance" to see your current percentage, status, and how many classes you can miss or must attend.
How is attendance percentage calculated?
Attendance % = (Classes Attended รท Total Classes Held) ร 100. For example, attending 60 out of 80 classes gives 75% attendance.
How many classes can I miss and still meet the required attendance?
If your current attendance is already above the required percentage, the calculator works out the maximum number of additional classes (assuming none of them are attended) you could have added to the total before your percentage drops to the required minimum.
What does the "Remaining Classes" field do?
It's optional. If you know how many classes are left in the term, enter that number โ the calculator will then tell you either how many of those remaining classes you can safely miss (if you're already meeting the requirement), or how many of them you must attend to reach the required percentage by the end of the term (if you're currently below it).
What is a typical minimum attendance requirement?
Many schools, colleges and universities require a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to sit for exams, though the exact figure (60%, 75%, 80% or 90%) varies by institution and course โ check your institution's specific policy.
What is "condonation" of attendance shortage?
Many universities allow condonation โ a formal relaxation of the 75% rule (often down to 65-70%) for students with valid reasons such as medical emergencies, supported by documentation and sometimes a fee. This calculator only reflects the strict requirement you enter, so check your institution's condonation policy if you're close to the cutoff.
What if I can't reach the required percentage even by attending all remaining classes?
If your current attendance is too low relative to the classes left in the term, attending every remaining class may still not raise your average to the required percentage. In that case the calculator shows the shortfall so you know exactly how far below the requirement you'll be at term end.
