Why is the CGPA × 9.5 formula not a true percentage conversion?
The 9.5 multiplier is a fixed approximation CBSE introduced when it moved to a 10-point grading scale — it assumes each grade point band maps to a roughly fixed percentage range, which doesn't capture the actual marks a student scored. Two students with the same CGPA could have scored different actual percentages, so this conversion should be treated as indicative only, not an exact figure.
Do all subjects need the same credit value?
No. Enter each subject's actual credit hours — subjects with higher credits (e.g. major/core subjects) will have a proportionally larger effect on the final CGPA than subjects with fewer credits, since CGPA is a credit-weighted average, not a simple average of grade points.
