How do I use the Report Card Generator?
Enter the Student Name and Class / Section, then for each subject fill in the Subject Name, Marks Obtained and Out of (total marks). Use "+ Add Subject" or "− Remove Subject" to adjust the number of subjects. Click "Refresh Preview" to generate the report card with overall percentage, total marks, grade and remarks, then use "🖨️ Print" to print or save it as a PDF.
How is the overall percentage and grade calculated?
The overall percentage is (Total Marks Obtained ÷ Total Maximum Marks) × 100, summed across all subjects. The overall grade is then derived from this percentage using the grading scale shown above, and each subject also gets its own individual grade.
How are the remarks determined?
Remarks are generated automatically based on the overall percentage and whether any subject falls below the pass mark — for example, "Excellent performance" for high percentages, or a note indicating subjects that need improvement if any subject scores below 40%.
Can I print or save the report card as a PDF?
Yes — after generating the report card, click the "🖨️ Print" button. This opens your browser's print dialog, where you can print directly or choose "Save as PDF" as the destination.
Is this report card an official school document?
No — this is a general-purpose report card generator for quick reference, practice or informal use. It is not affiliated with any school, board or official grading authority, and should not be used as an official academic record.
What is the exact grading scale used for letter grades?
The boundaries are: 90% and above → A+, 80–89% → A, 70–79% → B+, 60–69% → B, 50–59% → C, 40–49% → D, and below 40% → F. Each boundary is inclusive of its lower bound, so a score of exactly 90% gets A+ and exactly 40% gets D, not F.
Does a low score in one subject affect the overall grade differently from the remarks?
Yes. The overall grade is based purely on the combined percentage across all subjects, but the remarks separately flag if any individual subject scores below 40% (the pass mark), even if the overall percentage is high — so a student can get a good overall grade like A but still see a note about a subject needing improvement.
