Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use the Quotation Generator?
Fill in Your Details (Business Name, GSTIN, Address), Client Details, and Quote Details (Quotation Number, Date, Valid Until, GST Rate and Discount). Add Line Items with description, quantity and rate using "+ Add Item" โ amounts and totals update live in the preview. Add optional Terms & Conditions, then click "๐จ๏ธ Print / Save PDF" to print or save your quotation.
Is this quotation generator free to use?
Yes, it's completely free and runs entirely in your browser โ no sign-up needed, and your business and client details are never sent to a server.
What's the difference between a quotation and an invoice?
A quotation is a price estimate sent to a client before work begins, while an invoice is a formal request for payment issued after goods or services are delivered. Once your quotation is accepted, use our Invoice Generator to bill the client.
How are discount and GST applied to the quotation?
The discount is applied to the line items' subtotal first, and GST is then calculated on the discounted amount. For a quick standalone GST split on any figure, use the GST Calculator.
Can I print or save the quotation as a PDF?
Yes โ after filling in the details, use your browser's print option and select "Save as PDF" to get a print-ready PDF copy.
How do I set the right price before quoting a client?
Use our Profit Margin Calculator to find the selling price that gives you your target margin before adding it to the quotation.
Why does this quotation show a single GST line instead of CGST and SGST?
A quotation is only a price estimate, so it shows the combined GST rate as one line rather than splitting it into CGST and SGST. The CGST/SGST (or IGST) breakup is calculated when the quotation is converted into a tax invoice โ use our Invoice Generator for that split.
What does the "Valid Until" date mean for a quotation?
The "Valid Until" date tells the client the deadline by which they must accept the quoted prices and terms. After this date, you are not bound to honour the quoted rates โ useful if your costs, GST rates, or material prices may change, so set it realistically (commonly 15-30 days).
