How do I use the Tip & Bill Splitter?

How is the tip amount calculated?
Tip Amount = Bill Amount × Tip % / 100. The Total Bill is the Bill Amount plus the Tip Amount, and the Per Person amount is the Total Bill divided by the number of people splitting it.
What is a typical tip percentage?
Common tip percentages range from 5% to 20% depending on the country and service quality. Use the quick preset buttons (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 18%, 20%) or enter a custom percentage.
Does the tip get split equally among everyone?
Yes — this calculator splits the total bill (including tip) equally among the number of people you specify, using the +/− stepper to adjust the headcount.

What happens if the per-person amount doesn't divide evenly?
This calculator shows the exact per-person share as a decimal, even if it doesn't round to a whole currency unit. In practice, one or two people in the group can pay a few paise/cents extra so the total collected matches the bill — the small rounding difference is usually absorbed without anyone noticing.
Is tipping customary in India?
Tipping is optional in India and not as deeply ingrained as in countries like the US. Many restaurants already add a 5-10% service charge to the bill, so check before adding an extra tip on top — this calculator lets you set the tip % to 0% if a service charge is already included.
